💡 Tips for Success

6. How can I stand out to recruiters?

  1. Research ahead of time: Check the Chicago Urban League’s partner list and target 5–10 companies you definitely want to speak with.

  2. Prepare an “Elevator Pitch”: A 30-second summary of who you are, your skills, and what kind of role you are looking for.

  3. Apply online first: Many recruiters will ask if you’ve already applied on their portal. Doing this beforehand shows high initiative.

7. Is there childcare available?

The Chicago Urban League has historically provided free on-site childcare during the fair to ensure parents can network without distraction. Check the specific 2026 registration page to confirm this service is active for this year’s date.
